AirRunner Networks LLC

Holiday Greetings for 2008

Staff Changes
In 2007 we had an employee leave and we gained a couple more to help us grow.
Ann Thurs, our book keeper, moved on for another opportunity. Her replacement is Heather Hall who joined us in October. Andy Kennedy and Bryan Meade joined us in the spring as the site survey, installation team. Janet Gregoire also started in the spring and she does tech support and customer service. Phil Gregoire is our senior technical support and network analyst.

New Speeds and Billing Options
In 2008 we have added a new speed of 256K for $30.00. This speed is twice as fast as the 128K that we previously offered. If you’d like to try this new speed please contact Heather. We are still offering Antivirus software from FProt.
We are awaiting new partner terms from them so the costs are not yet set. If you’d like to resubscribe through us or would like more information, send Heather an email at : hh@airrun.net. If you have a web site hosted with AirRunner Networks LLC, that yearly cost will be invoiced at one time and you’ll receive a billing from us soon.
Last year we introduced automatic billing also known as ACH. This method of billing is easy and saves time, checks and stamps. If you sign up for this method of billing we’ll give you a one free month of service. This offer is only valid for monthly paying customers. If you’d like more information or the form sent to you please either call Heather at 715-443-3700 ext.102 or send her an email at hh@airrun.net.

Radio Replacement Policy
In 2006, we introduced a voluntary membership in a radio replacement policy. Over the years, thunderstorms have occurred which have damaged users’ radios. Because this is considered ‘an Act of God’ it is not covered by any warranty. Current replacement radio cost is $235.00. As outlined in our Acceptable Use Policy/Terms of Service, the customer is responsible to cover this replacement cost. We recognize this can be a hardship and now due to our size we can offer this replacement policy. Again this is a voluntary membership. To be a member of this policy requires a once a year payment of $25.00 payable each February 16th. If your radio fails or is damaged following a storm, AirRunner Networks LLC will replace one radio each calendar year. You cannot opt in for participation in the policy after your radio is damaged. Payment for the policy for existing customers must be made in the month of February. If additional items are damaged, such as wire, routers or antennas, these items are replaced at current replacement cost. If you wish to renew your current policy or get set up with this replacement policy please call and speak to Heather at extension 102 or send her an email at: hh@airrun.net

Todays Network and Future Changes
By now many of you are aware that we have been experiencing some problems. I’ll take this time to briefly explain this again. All of the equipment that AirRunner Networks LLC has at its office and out in the field are in top working condition. The problem lies with a number of customers who’s computers are infected with a program which at specific times attacks our customers, then an outside location. This type of an attack is called a Denial of Service Attack. More information about this can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial_of_Service   I would encourage you to read about this so you understand what it is 'we' are up against. The staff at AirRunner Networks have been spending a huge amount of time working on this problem and implementing additional hardware to identify these customers who are infected. The other issue we have is that the ‘program that is the cause’ has not been identified by any major Anti virus company(s). Some of the hardware we are building is designed to interrupt these attacks until the antivirus community can get up to speed with this latest vulnerability. Again this ‘problem’ is not with our equipment, but with a number of infected customers. The link which you used to find this New Years Letter (http://www.airrun.net/newsletter) will be used in the future for updates to this problem.

We are still awaiting the arrival of our new DS3 circuit. The latest information I have gotten says that Verizon is the current hold up. A DS3 circuit holds the equivalent of 28 T1 circuits or 45Mbs of bandwidth. When the circuit is connected we will run several days of testing and start the process of moving over our DNS. Those customers with websites or public IP’s will likely see some interruption for a brief period. The rest of the users will probably not notice anything as it will be a flash cut over likely at a low usage period during the day. Once the circuit is up and running, more testing on the overall network will be done to determine where advanced speeds can be deployed to end users. The advanced speeds may require a different radio or access point location.

PC Service Vendors
Several years back we decided that we didn’t have the staff to provide PC support and repair. We had also been contacted by several vendors who were interested in providing this type of service. Included with your mailed calendar was a coupon for Happy Mac. Happy Mac is one of the latest vendors who have requested a spot on our web page. Also on this web page are the following: CPR Computer Services LLC, JAS Specialists and Jerry's Computer Service. These vendors can be found towards the bottom of this page: http://www.airrun.net/stuff.html Please note that AirRunner Networks LLC does not endorse these vendors and you are free to choose any vendor you wish to work on your PC.

Wrap Up
As we move forward into 2008 continue to look back at this link for updates on the network, DS3 installation, changes and news. We appreciate everyone’s support as we resolve the bumps in delivery and would appreciate your cooperation if we contact you regarding these problems. We are driven to move forward and continue to provide technology to our customers as we grow.

Have a great year!
