PC Performance Items
Although we are here to support your Internet needs, AirRunner Networks LLC no longer provides PC repair services for customer PC's needing virus removal or operating system reformatting. Vendors that provide these services are listed at the bottom of this page. However, you are still free to use the following items to help enhance your PC Internet experience. From Pop-ups, to spyware, to virus protection, you'll find it here!
AirRunner Networks LLC is only suggesting that you run this software to improve the performance of your PC. We can assume no liability if it does not perform to your standards or if it in some way has a detrimental effect on your equipment/PC.
Pop-ups driving you crazy?
Pop-ups are allowed through Microsoft Internet Explorer by design. And because it's the most widely-used browser, most website designers create pop-ups that target users of Internet Explorer.
Try a different browser such as Mozilla FireFox to lessen the number of pop-ups you receive. While you're there, try Thunderbird, a free email client with powerful SPAM filters. If that doesn't help, you may have spyware on your computer, read below on how to remove spyware.
Slow Connection? Spyware?
If your connection seems slow or you experience pop-ups when not connected to the Internet, it's most likely due to spyware programs controlling the resources of your PC. Spyware is generally used by Internet companies that track your Internet surfing behaviors to create a marketing profile of you, which is sold to advertisment companies. Popular free programs, such as Kazaa or Ares, install spyware alongside their main product. Clicking on pop-up ads, and even visiting certain websites can install spyware on your PC.
If you see new toolbars on your Internet Explorer browser, your browser crashes frequently, or your browser home page has changed without you setting it, you probably have spyware.
There are two popular free spyware removal programs: Lavasoft Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy. You may view the Spybot Search & Destroy website at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html and it is available for download at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html.
Virus Protection?
Today's sophisticated computer viruses can be caught within seconds by simply connecting to the Internet. We do not recommend you go without virus protection.
Use the Symantec website to purchase Norton Antivirus and check the latest virus outbreaks, or use the Trend Micro website to purchase PC-cillin or run a free scan of your computer. The Denmark-based company Frisk Software International also provides top-quality virus protection. Download a trial version or purchase it here!
ClamWIN is an open source (free) antivirus program that runs well as a secondary antivirus program or to rid your PC of a virus, worm, or Trojan horse. To download ClamWIN, please visit www.clamwin.com/download. Their site will redirect you to a list of all download sources from around the world. Click on the file icon in the download column to receive the latest ClamWIN version. Please note, if your ClamWIN updates do not download -- you need to check the download page for the latest version. (When ClamWIN releases a new version, they discontinue support for previous versions.)
