Wireless Internet Equipment
Getting connected with wireless is not complicated at all, but it does require a few more items than a simple dial-up Internet connection. Here is an explanation on what is required for wireless Internet connectivity.
To get connected to our HIGH-SPEED Wireless network there are 2 basic requirements:
- Your location needs to be qualified by our site survey. We look for line of sight or near line of sight back to one of our repeaters in order to be connected to our network. The site survey costs nothing and requires a site visit. If your location is
suitable for wireless Internet we can then schedule an installation. You can request a Site Survey
online.
- Your computer needs a network interface card or a (NIC). Most computers purchased within the last three years come with a NIC as standard equipment. If you don't have a NIC, we can install one during the installation.
We provide the rest of the needed materials to complete the installation. A typical installation takes about 2-hours to complete.
During the installation we may need to get on your roof or work from the side of your building or sometimes we get our best signals from the ground. Every installation is unique as construction and terrain changes from place to place.
The radios and antennas are carefully mounted to the existing structure and a small 3/8" cable is then run from the radio to your computer. Below is a picture of an antenna. Its size may vary from 8" x 8" to 18" x 18" the depth of the antenna is about 1.5" and the mounting hardware is behind.
